OUR STORY, 30 YEARS IN THE MAKING

THE EARLY YEARS

David first visited the Caribbean in his early 20s.  It was love at first sight, an infatuation that lured him back.

He returned a second time, then a third, and more visits followed. Each visit brought a discovery of a new island. A different country. And the development of an ever-deepening connection to the Caribbean.

Heeding the call of his inner adventurer and entrepreneur — his “little Devil” — David followed his dream. He relocated to the Caribbean to pursue a career as a scuba diving instructor.

Rum embodied the very essence of the Caribbean, and during his time in the region, it blossomed into David’s deepest passion.

THE JOURNEY

Over the course of three decades, David accumulated an extensive library of rum experiences.

He explored rums from various styles, geographical origins and producers. Each liquid showed its own distinct flavour profile, unique personality and soul.

House of Rum is the culmination of David’s lifelong passion for Rum. It’s an opportunity to share his personal adventure by inviting you to join him on a journey of hedonistic exploration.

The term “House” in House of Rum symbolises a welcoming space. It unites all those eager to embark on this extraordinary voyage into the world of rum.

THE LITTLE DEVIL

David’s approach to life has always been marked by his curiosity and inquisitive spirit, favouring unconventional life choices over the ordinary.

David has a deep appreciation for rational thinking and careful planning. But he’s equally open to embracing the unexpected and taking calculated risks to achieve his life’s goals.

He often credits his success to his willingness to heed the advice of his little, mischievous “Devil”.

But the Devil depicted in our logo isn’t just a representation of David's adventurous nature. It's intimately tied to our exceptional rums, too.

That’s why a Devil's visage adorns every one of our bottles. To pay tribute to a process that plays a pivotal role in crafting all House of Rum expressions, and as a nod to David’s “little Devil”
