ENJOYING

RUM

The finest rums, like the world’s most extraordinary whiskies or cognacs, deserve respect.

After decades of patient ageing, they should never be masked by mixers.

Every House of Rum expression is meant to be savoured neat in a fine glass.

If you prefer, serve over a single block of clear ice, or add a few drops of mineral water to open the flavours.

Nothing more.

APPEARANCE

A person pouring whiskey from a decorative decanter into a glass on a dark bar counter.

Set the scene however you like — a film, a fine cigar, a quiet evening alone.

But if you want the purest appreciation, pour a small measure neat and take a moment to look.

Unlike most rums, we never use caramel to adjust colour.

What you see is natural, shaped only by time in the cask.

Golden straw, burnished copper, aged bronze.

Let the hue spark your imagination.

AROMA

Now lift the glass. All our rums are bottled at cask strength — sometimes over 60% ABV — so approach with patience.

Begin from a distance, allowing the aromas to rise.

Vanilla, oak, leather, sultanas, smoke, perhaps even cigar box or tropical fruit.

Some notes will feel familiar, while others will be fleeting and elusive.

Each glass tells a story, each aroma stirs a memory.

TEXTURE

Take your first sip.

Feel the texture before the flavour: lean and light. Rich and opulent. Creamy, waxy or soft.

Then let the flavours reveal themselves — dark chocolate, spice, stone fruit, coconut, liquorice, oak.

Swallow, and notice the finish.

Long, layered and evolving even after the liquid is gone.

The finest rums change with every sip.

Go back again, and you may discover something entirely new.

That’s the beauty of rarity — complexity that unfolds, time after time.
