World Rum Day Collection
House of Rum have released a special international trilogy from its cask strength rum portfolio with special single vintages from Mauritius, Jamaica and Guatemala to mark World Rum Day on July 11th 2026. All bottled in 2023, the single cask rums were distilled in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Selected exclusively by founder David Howarth from a rich and diverse portfolio from 11 different countries, the trilogy offers an eclectic flavour journey through three very different expressions from three powerhouse rum producing countries - embracing everything from spice and citrus freshness to rich caramel and velvety chocolate tones.
Mauritius 2014
Distilled in 2014 from red and yellow sugarcane varieties and aged in both tropical and continental climates, the Mauritius 2014 from the Chamarel Distillery has an ABV of 54.2%. A winner at the Global Rum and Cachaca Masters 2026, it offers waves of caramelised red apple, blossom honey and dried fruits on the palate with dark chocolate notes on the finish. After an initial two years of
tropical aging in ex-Bourbon casks in Mauritius, the rum completed an additional seven years of continental maturation in the UK, resting in ex-whisky casks that previously held red wine.
Jamaica 2013
The 2013 Jamaica comes from the acclaimed Worthy Park Distillery with a robust ABV of 63.4%.
The combination of estate-grown sugar cane, native yeast and traditional production methods gives this rum a true funky Jamaican profile and authenticity. The dual aging process, first in ex-Bourbon casks in Jamaica, followed by further maturation in ex-Rum casks in the UK, contributes to the complexity and depth of flavour which includes captivating earthy notes on the nose accompanied by an enticing scent of almonds, followed by raisins and a touch of candied lemon and a hint of lime for citrus freshness.
Rich caramel and toasted syrup lead the palate, paving the way for a velvety wave of creamy vanilla sweetness on the palate. As the flavours unfold, a gentle touch of leather emerges, leaving a pleasantly dry and satisfying finish.
Guatemala 2012
This beautiful 57.8% ABV rum received a Gold accolade in the Global Rum and Cachaca Masters 2026. It was distilled from molasses using a column still at the iconic, Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones Sociedad Anónima, Guatemala. It went through three years of tropical aging in Guatemala and eight years of continental aging in ex-Scotch whisky casks.
Guatemalan rum is celebrated for its quality, particularly its use of "sugarcane honey" and high-altitude aging. The industry supports local agriculture and focuses on sustainability and fairtrade practices. This 2012 vintage offers luscious notes of cacao and milk chocolate on the nose with a subtle, toasted nuttiness and gentle aroma of winter spices. On the palate it is velvety, with rich chocolate flavours, complemented by notes of coffee and nutty tones of walnuts and toasted nuts. Dry red apples and a subtle hint of spices follow on the midpalate and a satisfying, lingering finish.
